Welcome to Tauranga
Tauranga is a harbourside city in the Bay of Plenty region on New Zealand’s North Island. It hosts historic buildings like the Elms Mission Station, an 1847 Georgian-style home. A bridge over the harbour connects Tauranga to Mount Maunganui, a beach town with hot saltwater pools and an extinct namesake volcano with winding walking paths. Offshore is the active volcano White Island, accessible by helicopter or boat.

A group of passionate individuals got together to achieve this dream of creating Classic Flyers to protect the rich and precious history of New Zealand aviation.
The creation of Classic Flyers was funded entirely by these individuals who shared a dream. A venture created by New Zealanders for New Zealanders. As a non-commercial Trust, whatever we make from the museum, on site cafe & shop, and our events goes back into preserving our aviation heritage.The Classic Flyers Museum is an aviation museum located at the Tauranga Airport, Mount Maunganui, New Zealand, owned by a registered New Zealand charitable trust, the Bay of Plenty Classic Aircraft Trust.

Moturiki Island, known as “Leisure Island” in English, is located just off Mount Maunganui beach. It is connected to the beach by a man made land bridge. Niwa maintains a tide meter on Moturiki Island.
Mclaren Falls Park
McLaren Falls Park is 190 hectares of parkland set alongside Lake McLaren and is just ten minutes by car, from Tauranga.
